From January 1st, ELBA produces exclusively LED-based products for Industrial and Outdoor Lighting

ELBA environmental LED Lighting

Being environmentally conscious has progressed from simply being an idea to a way of life not just for individuals, but also for businesses looking to drastically reduce their carbon footprint and converge towards the EU commitments.

Nowadays we are aware of the seriousness of matters like pollution, recycling and we are consciously trying to protect the environment. One way to do this is to reduce our carbon footprint – the total amount of greenhouse gases (GHG) we produce by our daily activities such as using electricity, driving a car, or disposing of waste.

In short, we can protect Earth by recycling, by driving less or carpooling, by using energy-efficient appliances and light-emitting diode (LED) lighting.

Yes – even small choices can have a considerable impact on the environment!

Environment protection is a key driver in ELBA’s business model

At ELBA, we are dedicated to providing our customers with the highest quality lighting products and solutions to enable them to enjoy superior light with high added value; however, our commitment for technical lighting is to do that, while protecting the environment. Energy-saving represents one of our main orientations in product development. That is why, starting 2020, we decided to design and produce solely “green” lighting fixtures, using state-of-the-art LED technology, for all our Industrial, Street, Pedestrian or Architectural lighting solutions.

ELBA lighting fixtures are designed by using last generation, high performance LED light sources, both modern and green, with high efficiency in a consumption-performance – lifetime assessment.

In case you didn’t know this already, here is a list of why LEDs are the most environmentally friendly lights:

LEDs are energy efficient

LEDs are highly energy-efficient and can save up to 70% electricity as compared to incandescent lights and up to 50% when compared to compact fluorescent lights (CFL). Low energy consumption reduces the amount of fuel being used to generate electricity. This means GHGs associated with the LED lights are far less than the conventional lighting solutions.

According to The Climate Group, lighting is responsible for 6% of global CO2 emissions and making a complete switch to LED lighting worldwide, could keep 1,400 million tons of CO2 out of the air. That is why, following the historic global Paris Agreement,  “LED lighting has been recognized as one of the most actionable and ready-to-implement technologies for cities to transition to a low carbon economy and peak emissions in the next decade”.

LEDs are recyclable

Our LEDs luminaires are recyclable – which leaves a smaller environmental impact than traditional solutions.

Additionally, they are made of non-toxic materials, unlike CFLs that use mercury and may pose a danger to the public health and the environment.

LEDs have a longer lifespan

ELBA’s LED luminaires have a rated life of more than 50,000 hours (some can last up to 260,000 hours) – that means more than 10 years of being used daily for 10 hours. This longer life span reduces the need for bulb replacement, thereby reducing the amount of waste associated with them.

LEDs do not generate noise pollution

LEDs do not generate any vibration or humming noise, unlike other lighting technologies. So, by replacing conventional light bulbs with LEDs, we can help reduce noise pollution in the environment.

LEDs generate less  heat

One of the most environmentally friendly aspects of LEDs is that these lights have very high electricity to light conversion efficiency – this implies that there is minimal heat loss in the environment and it makes a difference when it comes to plants. The presence of conventional bulbs in the vicinity of plants can have a bad impact on their growth because these bulbs increase the temperature of the area. Since changing to LED lighting could save you money in the long term and also benefit the environment, why not jump at the opportunity?

Make a step in the right direction and switch to high quality LED lighting. Without a doubt, high-efficiency LEDs can provide long-term benefits for you, your business, your city, and for our Planet.
