Performance and Quality Testing
Research and testing of our products have led to the establishment of advanced testing and certification laboratories in photometry, chemistry, electromagnetic compatibility, and electromechanics over the years.

The laboratories at ELBA SA – photometric, electromechanical, electromagnetic compatibility, and chemical – conduct a wide range of high-performance research. The metrology laboratory performs calibrations and metrological verifications.
The “Electrobanat” Photometric Laboratory and the Electromechanical Laboratory meet the requirements of SR EN ISO/IEC 17025 and are accredited by the Romanian Accreditation Body (RENAR) to conduct tests. Thanks to this accreditation, test reports issued by these laboratories are recognized in all countries that are signatories to the European Accreditation (EA) and International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) agreements. The Metrology Laboratory also meets the SR EN ISO/IEC 17025 standards and is certified by the Romanian Bureau of Legal Metrology for calibration and metrological verification activities.
Photometric Laboratory
Established in 1972, the Photometric Laboratory focuses on homologation and validation of lighting fixture performance in areas such as photometry, colorimetry, determination of optical material properties, and dimensional and electrical verification of light sources.
Since Romania’s signing of the 1958 Geneva Convention on the uniform conditions for type approval and mutual recognition of motor vehicle equipment, the “Electrobanat” Photometric Laboratory has been a registered participant in the convention. It serves as a designated technical service for international type approval tests since February 21, 1977.
Electromechanical Laboratory
Founded in 1957, the Electromechanical Laboratory ensures that ELBA’s product designs comply with international manufacturing standards for lighting fixtures. It performs verifications in the following areas:
- Electrical
- Mechanical
- Climatic
- Protection
- Corrosion resistance
- Noise levels
Chemical Laboratory
Established in 1964, the Chemical Laboratory focuses on verifying and controlling technological processes, ensuring compliance of raw materials and materials used, and testing manufactured products. Its activities include:
- Chemical and physicochemical analyses
- Volumetric and gravimetric tests
- Spectrometric (IR) determinations
- pH-metric measurements
- Coating thickness and adhesion tests
- Wastewater analyses
Metrology Laboratory
Established in 1959, the Metrology Laboratory ensures the traceability of measurement units to the measuring and monitoring equipment used in ELBA’s factories and testing laboratories. It is certified to perform calibration and metrological verification of measurement and monitoring devices.
